Bastrop County is located about 30 miles to the south-east of Austin, the Capitol of the State of Texas. Bastrop county has grown to house many bedroom communities that attract those who are moving into the Austin area for work.
Highway 71 runs from the southern area of Austin directly through Bastrop county and making it an straight commute into Austin. Hwy 290 also runs from Austin into the Elgin Area.
